Macosko preliminary continued

by Timothy Bowman

The preliminary trial for South Shore medical marijuana provider Matt Macosko has been continued to 9 a.m. on June 18.

Macosko was arrested April 11 after retrieving a package from the post office containing a quarter-pound of marijuana. Macosko mailed the package to a medical marijuana patient in Kentucky. The patient is from South Shore and was traveling through Kentucky. The patient failed to retrieve the package from the Kentucky address and it was returned to Macosko’s South Lake Tahoe address.

Sometime while it was being returned a postal inspector became suspicious the package and discovered its contents. The inspector notified South Lake El Dorado Narcotics Enforcement Team.

SLEDNET allowed the package to be returned and when Macosko retrieved it, he was arrested. Law enforcement officials also found $10,550 on Macosko at the time of arrest.

Macosko is being charged with transportation of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to sell. If convicted he faces a maximum of three years in state prison.
