Join the Mad Scientist as he presents the spectacular show “Fire and Ice” Friday at 2 p.m. at the South Lake Tahoe Branch Library, 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd. Children will be amazed by the impressive demonstrations in this dazzling show.

From foggy dry ice storms and whoosh of a fiery jet “engine’ to a Mad Science burp-flavored potion, audiences will be amazed by what they see hear and, ugh, -taste.

Ever see scissors sizzle and shiver? Ever taken a bubble show? Here’s your chance. Join us for a free, fun, interactive program that sparks the imagination and curiosity of children of all ages.

The Summer Reading Club continues through Aug. 13. The club is designed as an incentive for children to read during summer vacation by rewarding them with prizes for time spent reading.

The library is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. For more information call (530) 573-3185.
