SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 36-year-old Reno man early Sunday morning after he allegedly stole poker chips from a craps table at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe.

About 1:52 a.m. the man allegedly grabbed the chips from a table at the casino and fled to Horizon Casino Resort. A deputy contacted a man matching the description of the alleged thief at Horizon, according to a deputy’s report.

The man initially denied having poker chips, then said he received chips at Harrah’s but did not steal them, then denied having poker chips again, according to the report. The deputy reported seeing the man pull poker chips out of his pocket during their conversation.

The man was then identified by the victim and surveillance footage showed the thief matched the man’s description, according to the report.

While the man was being booked into Douglas County Jail, deputies discovered approximately 5 grams of a white powdery substance believed to be either cocaine or methamphetamine, according to the report.
