Man arrested on suspected DUI after Volvo hits parked cars
Police arrested a South Lake Tahoe man on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit and run Thursday night after he allegedly hit two parked cars in the driveway of a home on the 2500 block of Fountain Avenue.
Christopher Catterson, 27, appeared to be in the process of sending a text message at the time of the collision, according to a Friday statement from police. He denied being the driver of the vehicle.
Several people reported the crash about 8:20 p.m. Witnesses said they saw Catterson driving a 2001 Volvo station wagon when it struck the vehicles. Catterson then attempted to run from the scene, according to police.
Catterson’s license was suspended for a prior drunken driving conviction, police said. He received minor injuries from the incident, according to the statement. No other injuries were reported.
Catterson had been released from custody at El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe as of Friday morning. It is unknown if he has an attorney.
