Man dies in solo-vehicle crash

A single-vehicle rollover resulted in the death of an Oregon man and serious injuries to his passenger on Friday at 7:43 a.m on Highway 50 near the state line.

The Jaws of Life were used to extricate the two occupants. The driver was declared dead at the scene and the woman passenger was airlifted to an area hospital.

Larry Dean Wells, 71, was driving east on Highway 50 near Kahle Drive in Stateline when his blue Hyundai SUV-type sedan left the road for unknown reasons,. He struck a tree and the vehicle overturned. His passenger Roxane Jean Freeman, 68, also of Oregon was taken by air ambulance to Renown Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The roadway was reduced to one-lane traffic in the area of the crash on Friday morning.



The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP). The NHP asks anyone who was a witness or who has additional information to call dispatch at 775-687-0400 about case NHP-141000779.
