Man fails to return to jail after two-day furlough for funeral

William Ferchland

An El Dorado County Jail inmate who was granted a two-day release to attend his brother’s funeral now has a felony warrant for his arrest after he failed to return Sunday.

Jason Takahashi is to be sentenced in September for charges relating to possession of methamphetamine for sale and probation violations, said Hans Uthe, assistant district attorney.

He pleaded July 1. Uthe said Takahashi’s sentencing “is not going to go well once we catch up with him.”

Takahashi’s younger brother, Sean, died in a July 5 car accident in El Dorado Hills. The driver, Alexander Craig, remains in Sutter-Roseville Medical Center.

Anyone with information on Jason Takahashi’s location is asked to contact Secret Witness at (530) 541-6800 or the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department at (530) 573-3000.
