‘Man of Strength’ nominees sought
As part of her senior project, Alexandra Garcia along with the South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center is holding an essay contest to recognize and award a “Man of Strength” at South Tahoe High School. The project is focused on the California Campaign titled MyStrength. MyStrength is a statewide campaign committed to ending sexual violence; promote youth empowerment, gender equality and healthy relationships.
The goal is to raise awareness of sexual violence among youth and highlight the vital role that young men can play in fostering healthy, safe relationships.
What is a “Man of Strength” and who is eligible?
A man of strength may fit any of the following criteria: he is a healthy role model, he stands up for his beliefs and/or the beliefs of others, he has done something positive within our community, he offers help to those in need, he has created positive change, the list can go on.
The nominated individual must be a South Tahoe High School student.
The essay may be any length, typed or handwritten. All entries must be submitted to either Mr. Coleman at the high school or the South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center by May 15. The winner will be announced on May 19.
The first-place winner will be awarded a brand-new black iPOD and two runners-up will receive various gift certificates.
