Man pleads guilty to injuring daughter

A 41-year-old Stateline man pleaded guilty Monday to breaking his 6-year-old daughter’s leg.

Scott Stephen Hill, a security guard at Bill’s Lake Tahoe Casino, is facing a possible sentence of five years in a Nevada state prison for the felony charge of battery causing substantial bodily harm.

Douglas County Sheriff’s investigators were called to Barton Memorial Hospital after Hill’s daughter was rushed in with a fractured left femur. Before she was taken into surgery, the girl told doctors and investigators that her father broke her leg, police said.

Douglas County Deputy District Attorney Alan Buttell said Hill forcibly twisted his daughter’s leg with enough force and ferocity to cause a spiral fracture.

Nevada’s Child Protective Services had removed both the girl and her 8-year-old sister from their parents’ home before this incident.

Mary Hill, the children’s mother, was arrested Thursday on a Douglas County warrant of child abuse in connection with the incident. Investigators said Mary Hill failed to prevent the abuse of her daughter. She is scheduled to appear in the Tahoe Township Justice Court on Wednesday.

Scott Hill is scheduled for sentencing April 19 in the Douglas County District Court.
