Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Horizon Casino Resort early Wednesday morning following a report of a suspicious phone call in which a man told a front desk clerk that he was going to shoot himself.

The man said his girlfriend had discovered naked pictures of him with children and had threatened to take the photos public, according to an email from Sgt. Jim Halsey.

The caller threatened to “go on a shooting spree” if deputies tried to take him into custody, Halsey said. Deputies responded to the hotel, checked the occupied rooms and found nothing wrong.

It is unclear where the man made the phone call from and whether the call was valid or a hoax, Halsey said.

Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 25-year-old Palo Cedro, Calif. man on suspicion of drunken driving about 6 a.m. Monday following a report of a traffic collision in the MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa parking lot.

The man allegedly backed a black Jaguar into a white BMW sport utility vehicle and passed out, according to a deputy’s report.

When approached by deputies, the man was allegedly asleep in the driver’s seat and did not open the driver’s side door, which was covered in vomit. A pile of feces was found on the ground next to the door, according to the report.

Paramedics arrived and the man opened the door. His shirt was covered in vomit and he smelled of feces, according to the report.

The man was allegedly asleep in the car long enough for the car’s battery to die because the key was still turned in the ignition. He was taken to Douglas County’s lake jail and cited on suspicion of drunken driving.

At about 10 a.m. Sunday, an unknown suspect or suspects stole 250 gallons of fuel from a storage container at Echo Lakes marina, according to an El Dorado County Sheriff’s office media log.
