Man sentenced for injury-causing DUI

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – On Aug. 18, a South Lake Tahoe resident Eric Acri was sentenced to 120 days in jail, five years probation, 1,500 hours of community service and participation in substance abuse counseling for an August 2010 car crash on Emerald Bay Road near E Street, according to court documents.

Acri pleaded guilty to a felony DUI charge in relation to the crash, which sent three people to the hospital. A second DUI charge and an enhancement of causing great bodily injury were dropped as part of a plea agreement, according to the documents.

On Sept. 1, Acri was ordered to pay victims of the crash more than $124,000 in restitution fees. He will be subject to electronic alcohol monitoring for one month after he is released from jail, according to the documents.
