Man suffers serious injuries in 50 crash
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Traffic on U.S. Highway 50 near Glenbrook was slowed for more than five hours Tuesday following a wreck that sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries.
About 10:50 a.m. the man was driving a black 2011 Dodge four door sedan eastbound near Glenbrook when he became distracted and drifted about three feet into the westbound lane, said Nevada Highway Patrol spokesman Chuck Allen.
The man collided head-on with a semi-truck and suffered serious leg injuries, Allen said. He was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.
Three out of four lanes were blocked by the crash. NHP troopers were able to get one lane open in each direction by 11:22 a.m. The highway was reopened completely by 3:18 p.m. Allen said.
Further details of the accident, including the man’s identity, were not immediately available Tuesday afternoon, Allen said.
