Man’s jaw broken in beach brawl

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – A 22-year-old Reno man’s jaw was reportedly broken in three places last week following a fight at Zephyr Cove beach involving up to 30 people, according to a Douglas County Sheriff’s deputy’s report.

The fight happened about 7:30 p.m. on June 21 between two large groups of intoxicated men. The 22-year-old was knocked to the ground and kicked by about seven men, according to one witness’ statement.

Many of those who were involved the fight left the scene prior to deputy’s arrival. No one was arrested and the case is closed pending further information.

The victim’s girlfriend told a deputy she didn’t know why the fight started. The man’s jaw will need surgery to correct, according to the report.
