Manuel Chávez Barrágan

Services are planned Aug. 18, 19 and 20 for Manuel “Manny” Chávez Barrágan, who died Aug. 14, 2006, on Kingsbury Grade.

Manuel was born Feb. 9, 1965, in Jiquilpan, Jalisco, Mexico, and was a 19-year resident of South Lake Tahoe. He loved travel and sports. He would always help people without caring who it was and never asked for anything in return. He cared about everyone and loved his family, kids, wife, brothers, sisters, parents and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Susana Rodriguez de Chávez ; daughter, Jenny Chávez Rodriguez; son, Edwin Chávez Rodriguez; father, Buena Ventura Chávez; mother, Margarita Barrágan; brothers, Guadalupe Chávez, Fransisco Chávez, Jose Luis Chávez, Daniel Chávez, Juan Chávez, Pedro Chávez and Jose Ramon Chávez; and sisters, Blandina Chávez and Letty Chávez.

Services will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Tahoe Community Church, 146 Daggett Way off Kingsbury Grade. Viewing is scheduled from 9 to 10 a.m. and Mass will be celebrated from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, both at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1041 Lyons Ave. A gathering to share memories of Manuel will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe convention center.
