Margaret Elizabeth Brower

Margaret Elizabeth Lynde Brower of Carson City died Sept. 22. She was 87.

Ms. Brower was born in Ponca, Neb., on March 19, 1918, to Lloyd and Lillian Lynde, second-generation settlers of the Nebraska Territories. She was raised in Hartington, Neb.

She married Forrest Brower of Grand Island, Neb., in 1942.

Ms. Brower is survived by brother Glyndon Lynde, daughters Lizbeth “Beth” Brower of Carson City and Mary Abelow of South Lake Tahoe, sons Richard “Rick” Brower of South Lake Tahoe and Richard Brower of Santa Paula, and her very close friend Bruce Pfeiffer of Carson City. She is also survived by four granddaughters, one stepgrandson, one stepgranddaughter and Rick’s wife Ursula, Roger’s wife Sally and Mary’s husband Steve.

She leaves many close friends in the Carson City area. She was active with the Carson Tahoe hospital auxiliary, the Sierra Intermountain Emergency Radio Association (call sign KC7GEE) and the PEOs. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

In leiu of flowers, donations can be made to the church or to the American Red Cross for victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
