Marijuana, grand jury top Tuesday council agenda

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The South Lake Tahoe City Council is set to discuss how to regulate medical marijuana and how to respond to a El Dorado County Grand Jury report during a special meeting on Tuesday, according to an agenda released Monday.

The council enacted a moratorium on new medical marijuana dispensaries in November after three dispensaries opened within city limits.

The council extended the moratorium in December to give city staff time to develop possible regulations surrounding the cultivation and distribution of medical marijuana in South Lake Tahoe.

In June, the El Dorado County Grand Jury offered a scathing criticism of the City Council and city management in an annual report.

Th city is required to respond to the grand jury within 90 days.

The special meeting begins at 1 p.m. at Lake Tahoe Airport. The airport is located at 1901 Airport Road.
