Marilyn J. Collins
Memorial services will take place Saturday for Marilyn J. Collins, who died Sept. 30, 2006, at Barton Memorial Hospital.
Marilyn was born April 12, 1930, in San Pedro, Calif. She graduated from Washington High School in Los Angeles in 1948, and attended the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. She was a professional ice skater and skated with a group called Icelandia from 1948 to 1958 in Los Angeles. She moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1970, where she was co-owner of Collins Floor Covering. She was a dealer at Harveys Resort Casino from 1978 to 1987 and worked as a slot technician at Harrah’s Tahoe until she retired in 1995. She was president of the South Lake Tahoe Women’s League in 1976. Marilyn enjoyed gardening, traveling and the outdoors, especially camping.
She is survived by son, William T. Collins of Sacramento; daughters, Linda Del Carlo of Virginia City, Nev., and Deborah Collins of Umpqua, Ore.; grandson, Jared Collins of South Lake Tahoe; granddaughter, Angelique Dunfield of Reno, Nev.; and three great-granddaughters. She was predeceased by son, John L. Collins.
Memorial services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Theresa Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Grace officiating. Inurnment will be at Happy Homestead Cemetery.
