Markleeville man dies after truck slams into trailer on Highway 88
A 79-year-old man from Markleeville died when his 1979 Ford pickup rolled Friday at 4 p.m. after he tried to avoid hitting a vehicle stopped at a stop sign.
A1998 Dodge pickup pulling a trailer was stopped at the intersection of State Route 88 and River Ranch Road preparing to make a left turn. The driver, a 30-year-old man from South Lake Tahoe, and a passenger, a 60-year-old man , were not injured when the Ford hit the trailer.
Clinton Byran was pronounced dead at the scene after his pickup flipped several times. Byran hit the right rear of the trailer as he was heading to the right shoulder of the road, California Highway Patrol reported.
