Marvel hospitalized for pneumonia

John Marvel, a 20 year veteran of the Nevada Assembly, is in Carson-Tahoe Hospital recovering from pneumonia.

Marvel, 72, is a well respected legislators in the lower house, the senior Republican and second in seniority only to Speaker Joe Dini, D-Yerington.

A lifelong Battle Mountain resident and rancher, his district includes Humboldt and Pershing counties as well as parts of Elko, Eureka and Lander.

Assembly Minority Leader Lynn Hettrick, R-Gardnerville, said Marvel was resting and recovering but that doctors have requested no visitors for “a couple of days.” Dini said Marvel had been sick most of a month before admitting that he needed rest and treatment.

“I know John hasn’t felt good for three weeks,” he said.
