Mary Frances Koch

A memorial service will take place March 20 for Mary Frances Koch, who passed away peacefully with family and friends at her bedside March 1, 2005, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Reno, Nev. She was 51.

Mary was born Feb. 25, 1954, at Glendale, Calif., and had been a resident of South Lake Tahoe since 1972. She worked in various retail stores and at Harrah’s and Caesars. She loved to drive and was one of a few female taxi drivers in town. She eventually spent many years driving limousines and doing clerical work at Caesars Tahoe Transportation in the late 1980s and early 1990s. A disability had prevented her from working in recent years. She loved to do sewing-type crafts and enjoyed cooking, trailer camping, and gardening in the spring and summer. Mary was a very loving and caring woman and always had a beautiful smile for all to enjoy.

Mary is survived by her life partner, Rob Simpson of South Lake Tahoe; her father, Bill Koeck, and his wife, Irma Smith, of Desert Hot Springs, Calif.; sisters, Lorrain Carlin of Castro Valley, Calif., and Saundra Koeck of South Lake Tahoe; and brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Becca Koeck of South Lake Tahoe.

A memorial service for family and friends will begin at 1 p.m. March 20 at Lakeshore Lodge & Spa.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Mary’s memory be made to St. Mary’s Foundation, 520 W. Sixth Street, Reno, NV 89503.
