Maureen ‘Granny’ Norton


Funeral services will take place March 28 for Maureen “Granny” Norton, who died March 22, 2006, at Evergreen Care Center in Carson City, Nev. She was 88.

Maureen was born May 27, 1917, at Enola, Ark., to Boss Shock and Ollie Bell. She married Guaren Norton and was a homemaker. She had been a resident of South Lake Tahoe before moving to Carson City. Maureen enjoyed reading the Bible and collecting dolls and antiques.

She is survived by children, Barbara Bray of Carson City, Gerrie and Royce Talley of Carson City, Genevieve and Joe Stolla of Reno, Nev., Mille and Craig Norton of Dayton, Nev., Kathleen and Paul Glace of Reno and Gary and Linda Norton of South Lake Tahoe; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will take place from noon to 2 p.m., followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. on March 28 at FitzHenry’s Chapel of Faith, 3945 Fairview Drive, Carson City.

Interment will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery in Carson City.

Donations in her memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 705 S. Wells Ave., Suite 225, Reno, NV 89502.
