Me and Bobby McGee, a pairing of vocal prowess and piano, concludes a week of entertainment at the Valhalla Art, Music and Theatre Festival Wednesday.

The duo performs in Valhalla’s Boathouse Theater starting at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 15.

“Polished, sophisticated renditions of masterpieces of American song for piano and voice,” according to a press release for the festival, “June Joplin has the voice and the heart for the Great American jazz songbook, a smooth, smoky, passionate style that’s part diva, part rapture, part pure sizzle. Bob Reid backs her masterfully with tasteful, soulful accompaniments on piano.

June is well known in the region as the owner and creative vision behind the beloved Comma Coffee in Carson City.”

Tickets to the performance are $20.

Also at the festival this week are performances of the American classic “On Golden Pond” July 9-12 and July 16-18 and improv comedy July 13.

CW and Mr Spoons; who perform ragtime, old-time and jug band music; will play this week’s Free Music on the Lawn starting at 12 p.m. Sunday.

The festival’s Artist in Residence series will also feature natural subjects in acrylic from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 13-19 at the Viking Gallery in the Valhalla’s Grand Hall.

More information on the festival is available at http://www.valhallatahoe.com.
