Memorial for WWII veteran on Sunday

A soldier’s farewell and celebration of life will be conducted 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday at the American Legion Hall in honor of Col. Lowell Landre.

Landre, 85, was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam, earning three Purple Hearts and a Silver Star. He was a 40-year resident of South Lake Tahoe.

The memorial will include memories and dedication, color and honor guards, rifle salute, bugler playing taps and a flag presentation. Shaun Cummings will play the bagpipes in his honor.

A reception will follow. RSVP by calling Bob Schumacher at 530-600-1430 for location and information about bringing food to the reception.
