Chris Field, a leader of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, will speak Jan. 10 in Stateline, Nev.

Field was one of two scientists chosen to represent the IPCC in Oslo, Norway, to accept the award. He is the founding director of the Carnegie Institution’s Department of Global Ecology, professor of biological sciences at Standford University and faculty director of Stanford’s Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve. He was also part of the Nobel Prize winning team that assessed the scientific, technical, environmental, economic and social aspects of the vulnerability (sensitivity and adaptability) to climate change and the negative and positive consequences for ecological systems, socio-economic sectors and human health, with an emphasis on regional and cross-sectoral issues.

Field’s presentation at the Tahoe South Operation Sierra Storm Meteorologist Conference will take place from 8-9:30 a.m. at Harveys Cabaret Theater in Stateline, Nev. Free seating is limited, so reservations are required and must be made by 5 p.m. Monday.
