Memorial services will take place Aug. 15 for Michael Eugene Gibson, who died Aug. 2, 2004, surrounded by his family, at Washoe Medical Center in Reno, Nev. He was 54.

Mike was born July 21, 1950, in Illinois. He lived in Redding, Calif., and South Lake Tahoe off and on most of his life and had resided at South Lake Tahoe the past year. He served in the U.S. Army for four years and had been employed as a cook at Cabo Wabo at Harveys Resort Casino. Mike loved riding his bike and hiking and anything that had to do with being outside in Tahoe.

He is survived by sister Charlotte Benton, brother and sister-in-law Doug and Hope Gibson, niece Kynie Benton, nephews Chase and Cody Benton, and great-nephew Mateo Benton, all of south Lake Tahoe; brother Bill Gibson, brother and sister-in-law Jay and Diane Gibson, nephews, Todd Gibson, Billy Gibson, Mike Lewis and Steven Lewis, and niece Crystal Gibson, all of Redding, Calif.; sister Jamie Gibson and nephew Opie Gibson, both of Utah; daughter, Shana Gibson of Oregon; sister, Melanie de Illy of Georgia; brother Guy Murdock of Dallas, Texas; and many close friends who love him dearly. He will be missed by all.

Memorial services will begin at 4 p.m. Aug. 15 at Fallen Leaf Lake.
