Miller, Howard wed at Tahoe
Alicia Kathleen Howard and Gary Joe Miller celebrated their love for one another by exchanging wedding vows June 23 in South Lake Tahoe. To witness the event was a small group of friends and family, including both sets of parents – Tony and Deb Howard of South Lake Tahoe, June Beeler of Los Gatos, Calif., and Gary Miller of Hollister, Calif. – as well as Alicia’s brother, Brett Howard of San Francisco, and Gary’s sister, Jenny Miller of Santa Cruz, Calif.
Given in marriage by her mother and father, the bride wore a floor-length, empire-waist gown with a halter tie at the neck and carried a bouquet of orchids. Bridemaids were Jenny Miller of Santa Cruz and Sarah Durney of Reno, Nev. Each attendant wore a summer dress and carried a bouquet of orchids. Groomsmen were Mike Divet of Santa Cruz and Brett Howard of San Francisco. Maya and Tiva were flower and ring-bearer dogs.
The wedding ceremony and dinner reception was set at a family friend’s lovely old Tahoe lakefront estate. Dockside vows were officiated by family friend Susie Suswasoki, and were followed by a tropical-themed reception with music by the Big Tsunami. Dinner and champagne toasts preceded the evening’s sunset. The special occasion festivities were rounded out with the newlyweds’ cutting of the cake, followed by an enjoyable evening of good cheer, dancing and general celebration.
Alicia received a master’s degree in international business and is a senior analyst at Seagate Tech. Gary earned an undergraduate degree and is a biochemical engineer with Duke Enpencal.
The couple are residing in Santa Cruz following a wedding trip to Nicaragua, where they enjoyed surfing.
