A Sacramento couple is leaving Stateline today a whole lot richer.

Ron and JoAnn Ohm were in Lake Tahoe to celebrate their 32nd anniversary. Ron Ohm was playing the Wheel of Fortune quarters megajackpot on Monday when he hit the big winner — $1,538,757. He had only put in $20 in the 15 minutes he had been sitting at the machine.

“I always play the Wheel of Fortune machines,” said Ohm, a delivery truck driver for a uniform company. “When it hit, I jumped up and started clapping and asked people to go find my wife.”

They planned to go home today because Ohm said he had a lot of work to do around the house before going back to work.

“Now you can afford to hire somebody to do the work,” JoAnn Ohm said.

No way, her husband said. He said he is not going to let the new-found wealth change him.

They did say a chunk of the money will go to pay for their daughter’s student loans from the University of San Francisco.
