-Ramirez graduates basic training

Army Pvt. Johnny D. Ramirez has graduated from basic combat military training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. A 2001 graduate of South Tahoe High School, he is the son of Linda Hobson of South Lake Tahoe.

During training the soldier received instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid and Army history and traditions.

-Kemp on duty at Naval Medical Center

Navy Hospitalman Apprentice Dawn A. Kemp, daughter of Donna and Don Kemp of South Lake Tahoe, recently reported for duty at National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md.

A 1990 graduate of South Tahoe High School, Kemp joined the Navy in Sept. 2000.

-Ilasin serves with U.S. Navy in Guam

Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Lyndon A. Ilasin recently reported for duty with Naval Forces Marianas, Guam. A 1984 graduate of South Tahoe High School, he joined the Navy in June 1988.

-Promotion to Color Guard for Cadet Ross

Oak Ridge Military Academy, Oak Ridge, N.C., recently promoted Cadet Matt Ross of South Lake Tahoe to the Oak Ridge Military Academy Color Guard. Ross, a sophomore at Oak Ridge, is also a member of the basketball team and Oak Ridge’s reigning state championship drill team. After graduation he hopes to attend the University of California, Los Angeles as a a business major.
