Funk up your weekend with a soulful performance from regional band Mojo Green, which takes the stage at South Shore’s Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on Saturday, Oct. 21.

Mojo Green is a “seven-piece, female-fronted, horn-heavy funk [band] from Reno, Nevada,” according to the group’s online biography.

“Over the last few years, Mojo Green has played over 200 shows, taking their high-energy, hard-hitting, crazy dance party to storied venues [and] festivals across the West Coast,” continues the bio.

These shows include performances at Summer Arts & Music Fest, Hangtown Halloween, For The Funk Of It, Squaw Valley Funk Fest, Burning Man, Guitarfish and more.

Founded less than a decade ago, Mojo Green is climbing the ranks in today’s funk scene.

“Their debut album, ‘Funk in Public,’ which was released in early 2013, has been well received by both fans and the media alike, while also earning an award for Best Album of Northern Nevada for 2013 by the Reno News and Review,” states the band’s Facebook biography.

Mojo Green’s South Shore performance is a Pinktober benefit, with ticket prices going to the campaign’s efforts to fight breast cancer.

Doors open at 8:30 p.m. for the 9 p.m. show, which is open to guests over the age of 21.

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is located at 50 U.S. 50 in Stateline.
