Mom-daughter team will sign their books

Freelance writer Alora Mac Gregory Knight will sign copies of her poetry and children’s books from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, at Neighbors Bookstore in the Village Center.
She will be accompanied by her daughter, Marsha Yost, who illustrated the books. Yost will read the children’s books at the children’s story time at 11 a.m.
Knight, 84, who lives in Gardnerville with her husband, Bob, has three grandchildren and two great-grandchilden. She was a freelance writer while living in California, and since moving to Nevada in 1991, has continued writing.
She has been published in “Chicken Soup for the Soul,” The Salesian Mission books, Verses Magazine and several newsletters.
Her poetry has appeared in the Nevada Appeal’s monthly magazine for the past five years.
She has written children’s books, illustrated by her daughter, that are used in a California school.

Mother and daughter also make calendars and placemats, utilizing beautiful pictures with appropriate poetry.
Knight makes the mats for her greeting cards that have been sold through outlets in Nevada, California and New York. She has three books of poems.
Knight’s time has been spent volunteering at rest homes and reading to children at museums, schools and libraries. She has had several songs published and recorded and is a member of ASCAP.
