Monday’s forecast: Cooler and breezy today and Tuesday
August 18, 2008
A trough of low pressure moving toward the Pacific Northwest will bring cooler temperatures and increasing southwest winds today and Tuesday.
Highs today are forecast to reach the upper 70s around the lake under mostly sunny skies. Southwest winds will kick up around 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon creating 2 foot waves on the north and east shores of Lake Tahoe. Lows tonight are expected to drop into the upper 30s to lower 40s under clear skies.
Temperatures will continue to drop on Tuesday as the upper level trough of low pressure moves into the Pacific Northwest. Highs Tuesday are projected to reach the mid 70s at lake level which near the seasonal normal but around 15 degrees cooler than the 90 degree high this past Saturday.
The cooling trend is expected to bottom out on Wednesday then warm back into the 80s by the end of the week as high pressure rebuilds over the area.
