Monday’s forecast: Sunny and warmer today and Tuesday, chance of thunderstorms later in week
August 11, 2008
Warmer temperatures will return to the Lake Tahoe area today and Tuesday as high pressure aloft rebuilds in the wake of a low pressure trough which brushed the area over the weekend.
Highs today are expected to reach the upper 70s to mid 80s around the lake under sunny skies and southwest winds 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Lows tonight area forecast to drop into the mid to upper 30s under clear skies and light winds.
Sunny skies will continue into Tuesday under higher pressure aloft. Highs should be a little warmer on Tuesday peaking in the lower to mid 80s. Look for southwest winds around 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon.
A weak upper low pressure system is forecast to develop off the Central California coast by Wednesday. A more favorable thunderstorm pattern is expected to evolve later in the week as the flow at mid levels becomes more southerly and unstable.
