More hot weather; thunderstorms are possible on Friday

Simon Smith

Expect another hot day with temperatures expected to be in the upper 80s to low 90s in South Lake Tahoe, Meyers and Stateline.

After a sunny start, a few more clouds will show up this afternoon along with a few thunderstorms. Thunderstorms will die out quickly tonight leaving fair skies. More thunderstorms are expected for Friday and into the weekend. Hopefully we can get some beneficial rains over the next few days.

Lows tonight will drop into the 50s in most areas but 60s to near 70 can be expected along the East Shore and Kingsbury Grade areas.

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Fire Weather Watch for all of the Eastern Sierra and Western Nevada for Friday afternoon and evening for critical fire weather conditions due to the expected increase in thunderstorms. For more information go to http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/reno/.
