Motorcycle accident sends one to Washoe Med

Gregory Crofton

A 49-year-old man from Sammamish, Wash., was seriously injured Saturday night going east on State Route 89 at Woodfords after he slammed on the brakes of a 1995 Harley Davidson motorcycle and flipped over its handlebars.

Charles B. Keagle was wearing a helmet when he lost control of his bike and his head slammed into the pavement. He was transported by helicopter to Washoe Medical Center where Sunday he was listed in serious but stable condition.

It is unknown why Keagle, who was motoring about 40 mph, slammed on the brakes as he approached the intersection of 89 and Woodfords, according to California Highway Patrol.

The accident was reported at 10:45 p.m. when the weather was dry and the road was clear.
