Motorcyclist killed in Spooner grade accident

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – A Minden man was killed in a motorcycle accident on Highway 50 on Saturday just east of the Carson-Douglas line.

Edwin Bruno-Mazariego, 25, was riding a green Kawasaki ZX600P motorcycle eastbound on the highway at about 2:19 p.m. Saturday.

Bruno-Mazariego failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and left the travel lane striking the guardrail. Trooper Chuck Allen said Bruno-Mazariego was thrown from the motorcycle and received fatal injuries in the accident.

Highway 50’s speed limit is 50 mph. Bruno-Mazariego was wearing safety gear including gloves and a helmet.

The Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the crash. Witnesses are encouraged to contact Trooper Mike Stapledon at (775) 689-4623 regarding case No. NHP-1109-11124.
