Six restaurants and five bands will square off in an annual competition of sound and spice at Squaw Valley.

Guitar Strings vs. Chicken Wings returns to Squaw Valley, near Lake Tahoe’s North Shore, Friday.

“Each restaurant will be cooking their own signature recipes for spicy, flavor-packed chicken wings, and joining forces with the region’s best bands to crank the contest to the max,” according to a description of the event from Squaw Valley. “Chicken and music lovers are not going to want to miss a single stop on this around-the-valley face off.”

Bands will battle for $250 in gift certificates and bragging rights. Restaurants will battle for the Wing vs. Wing Champion Trophy

Entry to the event costs $5. Proceeds will benefit the Tahoe Institute for Natural Sciences, a nonprofit seeking to advance the understanding of the natural history of the Lake Tahoe region through education. Registration to vote for best wings and best band will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Events Plaza at the Village at Squaw Valley.

Four wings will be sold for $5 during the event, with drink specials also featured at each restaurant.
