The Animal Coalition of Tahoe (ACT) will hold its 10th annual Mutt Strut Poker Run on Sunday. It is a family event that featues walking a pooch, playing poker, and the possibility of winning prizes.

The Mutt Strut will begin at Lakeview Commons. Registration takes place from 11 to 11:30 a.m.

Participants will pick playing cards at stops along a 1.6 mile route, hoping for the best poker hands. Prizes will be awarded to those with the best hands and to raffle drawing winners.

This is not a race and no poker experience is needed. All funds raised benefit ACT spay-neuter program for local residents, and 10-percent of funds are donated to the El Dorado County Animal Shelter in Meyers.

Following the walk, there will be a party at Lakeview Commons featuring music, giveaways, raffle drawings, and contests such as best trick, hot dog eating, and musical sit.

Poker hands may be purchased in advance until Saturday at 6 p.m. for $20 for three hands, or three hands and a T-shirt for $30, at Alpine Animal Hospital, 921 Emerald Bay Road, or Bonanza Boot and Leather at Stateline.

Day of event tickets cost $10 each, $25 for three hands, T-shirts cost $12.

ACT is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, all-volunteer corporation with the mission of reducing the number of unwanted dogs and cats in the area.
