Myers leads STHS Nordic skiers at Mammoth Classic

South Tahoe High placed three boys’ cross country skiers in the top 10 of the California Nevada Interscholastic Ski and Snowboard Federation’s Mammoth Classic on Jan. 29 in Mammoth Lakes.

Tyler Myers placed sixth in the boys’ open class, Erik Cramer took seventh and Justin Dalton ninth. The Vikings’ Leighton Cook was 15th.

South Tahoe had eight competitors in the girls’ open race, with Janelle Spandau leading the way in ninth place. Also for the Vikings, Lisa Johnston finished 12th, Kaylee Kalinowski 13th, Cate Carlson 17th, Liana Novak 18th, Christy Walowit 19th, Kate Albrecht 20th and Madeline Dant 21st.



The Vikings didn’t have entrants in the boys’ and girls’ varsity races.

In the boys’ middle school race, South Tahoe Middle School’s Harley Norton took 20th place, Kyle Swain 21st, Chas Carlson 31st, Nick Cefalu 32nd, Paul Hoefer 42nd and A.J. Marino 43rd.



For the STMS girls, Ally Swain claimed 30th place and Tatum Whatford was 31st. The Timberwolves’ Zaira Monette took 37th place, Kerry Norton 39th, Rebecca Novak 42nd and Grace Bronken 43rd.

South Tahoe and STMS compete in the North Tahoe Pursuit today at 10:30 a.m. in Tahoe City.
