Harrah’s Lake Tahoe is excited to not announce two shows by up-and-coming bands ” until midnight on Friday, anyway.

Ghostland Observatory made its presence known at Vex inside the casino at midnight Friday, Jan. 11. The nightclub will play host to two more up-and-coming bands, on Fridays, Feb. 22 and March 14.

“We’ve actually got some pretty up-and-coming bands booked,” said Ashley Patton, public relations and promotions specialist for Harrah’s and Harveys.

Organizers are staying mum on who it might be ” the surprise is part of the fun. However, diligent music fans might find a few leads to follow before Feb. 22. Those who scan local print publications might pick up a clue or two.

“I think our ad that we’re running in the paper will imply a bit more,” Patton said.

KRZQ 100.9, Reno’s New Rock Alternative radio station, got in on the act Jan. 11, and Harrah’s is seeking to join forces with a radio station in Sacramento or the Bay Area to draw more interest. The committed followers of Ghostland Observatory, an electronic duo from Austin, Texas, had already posted positive reviews on the band’s Myspace page by the end of the weekend.

“There was definitely a huge fan base of the group there that found out that the group was going to be there, and we did have the live remote with 100.9, which I think helped as well,” Patton said.

The truth is out there, but there’s no way to know for sure until midnight. So keep your eyes peeled and the radio on.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Patton said.
