The Eric Nageotte-Lowe Memorial moguls event will take place at Heavenly Mountain Resort on Saturday and Sunday on the Waterfall course.

This Far West West freestyle skiing event is held in honor of the late Nageotte-Lowe, whose dream was to make the U.S. Ski Team. Teams from Heavenly and Squaw Valley will compete in this Far West Freestyle event. Singles competition will take place on Saturday with duals on Sunday.

The public is welcome to stop by and cheer on the competitors.

Following Saturday’s moguls competition, a fundraising party is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Mo’s Place at 3600 Lake Tahoe Blvd. Mo’s is donating a percentage of proceeds from menu items that night to the Heavenly Freestyle Scholarship Fund in Nageotte-Lowe’s memory.

The fund helps with the financing for members of the Heavenly Freestyle Team and has assisted Sho Kashima, Jay Panther and Hannah Curtzwiler, who are currently on the U.S. Ski Team.

Lake DJ Derek Tarpey will help sponsor the event, providing music and announcements. There will be raffle prizes donated by many local businesses.

In addition, there will be an awards ceremony to honor the top finishers in the singles mogul event. Among the presentations will be the Spirit in the Sky Award, which is awarded to the skier who always strives to do their best. Awards plaques have been donated by Jan Bleiweiss.

There also will be a video replay of the day’s competition. The public is invited.
