National Kids Day celebrated

All across the country the excitement is building. For the first time four of America’s leading youth-serving agencies have formed an alliance at the national level.

Boys and Girls Club of America, 4-H, KidsPeace and YMCA are all rallying to establish National Kids Day on Aug. 5 – a day to honor youth and an occasion when adults and children can spend meaningful time together.

Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe is collaborating with the Family Zone Amusement Park to offer a 20 percent discount from Aug. 5 through Aug. 10 to club members who show their cards. Parents must be present with a child to receive the discount. Boys and Girls Club staff will be available to sign children up for membership, play games and highlight club programs. Club membership costs $10 annually, which entitles children and youth to participate in all club activities.

The South Lake Tahoe Parks and Recreation Department is offering free swimming from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 5 to youths who bring an adult.
