Neighborhood traffic enforcement under way

Staff reports

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The South Lake Tahoe Police Department will deploy officers into Bijou this week, concentrating efforts on Glenwood Way, Herbert Avenue and Heather Lake Road on Thursday and Saturday.

“We have had a strong response from our community in the form of phone calls and emails just over the weekend,” said spokesman Sgt. Shannon Laney. “I cannot call everyone back, but your message was received. We are moving forward with this program and hope that it has a positive impact on our community.”

The speed limit for all California residential roadways is 25 mph unless otherwise posted. On Glenwood, speeding is a constant problem and there have been traffic collisions, Laney said.

To add streets or neighborhoods to the department’s list, call or email Laney at 530-542-6104 Include name, number and a description of the problem in as much detail as possible.
