Nevada-side Chamber hosts open house

The Tahoe-Douglas Chamber of Commerce is hosting Thursday a joint open house at its visitor center in conjunction with some Round Hill Square merchants.

The general public is invited to attend from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in front of the Safeway store off U.S. Highway 50 east of Elk Point Drive.

Refreshments, including liquor, will be served and entertainment from Harwick Music will be on hand.

The food presents a who’s who in the world of restaurants in Tahoe: Beacon Bar & Grill, Chart House, Dory’s Oar, Harrah’s Lake Tahoe, Lakeside Inn & Casino, Marie Callender’s, Nepheles, Ridge Tahoe, Round Table Pizza and Sam’s Place.

The following merchants are also taking part in the Round Hill Square open house: Dr. Robin James’ Alternative Health Care, Treasures Books & Gifts, Computer Base and The Lighthouse Christian Store.

The last open house at the visitor center was held two years ago after its remodeling job was completed. The first one was put on when the center opened six years ago.

The chamber conducted a recent survey and discovered that a large percentage of its core membership – roughly 70 percent – had not visited the center, so Executive Director Kathleen Farrell wanted to give members a reason to stop by.

Another survey indicated that most visitors to Lake Tahoe stop when they drive by.
