Nevada targets Hispanic market

The Nevada Commission on Tourism has launched a television commercial aimed at the Hispanic market.

The “Discover Nevada” promotion consists of two 30-second public service announcements that show outdoor recreation and historic sites. They urge Spanish-speaking viewers to visit close-to-home attractions, depicted in a montage of northern and southern Nevada highlights.

The commission recognizes the ethnic group as a large and growing group, comprising one-fifth of the population.

The spots are running on Nevada’s five Spanish-language television stations.

In the 2000 Census, the U.S. Census Bureau reports that the Silver State’s Hispanic residents number 393,594, out of 2 million people in the general population.
