New Fire Safe chapter forms

Provided to the Tribune

A volunteer group from the Skyland subdivision has formed a new chapter of the Nevada Fire Safe Council. The group will be organizing projects to clear fire hazards such as brush overgrowth, dead needles and pine cones, and dead or overgrowth of trees. The chapter will also apply for grants to help fund the projects.

The chapter’s first meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at Kahle Community Center, Rubicon Room, 236 Kingsbury Grade. All residents of Skyland are encouraged to join the chapter and attend the meeting. Representatives of the Nevada Fire Safe Council and the Tahoe Douglas Fire Department will give presentations and answer questions about how we can protect our properties and community in the event of a fire.
