Staff reports

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – A new fitness center which will offer fitness classes in aerobics, kickboxing, Pilates, Zumba and Spinning opened Monday.

Balance Fitness at 276 Kingsbury Grade will also specialize in yoga classes, Jeet Kune Do and Mixed Martial Arts classes for adults and children.

The gym is offering a pre-opening registration for $199, which gives people access to a year of classes and the gym. There are 5 spots remaining at this rate, but the gym may extend the offer, said Billy Kuhn, general manager.

The gym is co-owned by Courtney Kelly and Corrie Anderson.

“If this product is what people want we are already looking at expanding next door,” Kuhn said.

The 3,200 square-foot location has an 800 square-foot open floor for aerobic classes, mixed martial arts training and mixed use. There is also 1,500 square-foot room with free weights, weight machines, and cutting edge training equipment used by top athletes in the world. The gym also includes a private 400 square-foot spinning studio and a 500 square-foot yoga and Pilates studio.
