New leadership at Tahoe Daily Tribune

Kimberly Kuntz is the new advertising director for the Tahoe Daily Tribune, a role that includes the overall management of the newspaper and its associated media operations.

“We are excited for Kimberly to bring her enthusiasm, sales experience and media background to the South Shore,” Scott McElhaney, general manager of Sierra Nevada Media Group, said in making the announcement this week. “She is very familiar with the region, and with the South Lake Tahoe/ Stateline marketplace. Combining that with her creative marketing talent and interest in civic involvement will be a big asset to the local communities.”

Kuntz originally joined Sierra Nevada Media Group – the Tribune’s parent company – in 2002, working in advertising sales. Most recently, she was the director of interactive media and classified sales for the company, based in Carson City.

Born and raised in Southern California, Kuntz earned her degree in business and marketing from the University of Denver, before beginning her career as a technology consultant. Working for several years helping businesses implement new technology, she moved to the area to start a family and enjoy the outdoor lifestyle at Lake Tahoe.

And Kuntz already has a strong connection to the local community: Her husband, Greg, is a special education teacher at Tahoe Valley Elementary, where he has worked since 2003. She has twin sons, Bruce and Connor, now 5, who were born at Barton Memorial Hospital in 2004.

“I am really looking forward to being involved in the community,” Kuntz said. “South Lake Tahoe has a very fond place in my heart, having spent so much time here during family holidays while growing up.”

She also feels good about the future of the Tribune and the Lake Tahoe area.

“Lake Tahoe is such a wonderful place to live and to visit. I am confident the economy will rebound and the local business community will prosper and expand,” she said. “And my goal is that the Tribune will provide relevant, vital information for local residents and visitors alike – and excellent marketing solutions that translate into great results for our advertising partners.”

Kuntz replaces Mary Jurkonis, who takes on the role of director of revenue development for Sierra Nevada Media Group. She has moved to offices in Incline Village.
