SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — A vacant space above the movie theater at Heavenly Village is set to transform into a place of magic Dec. 15 with the opening of The Loft Theatre.

The Loft — at 1021 Heavenly Village Way, Space 50 in South Lake Tahoe — is a $1-million investment that Paul Reder, president of PR Entertainment, spent the last two years turning into a reality.

“The Loft is a live theater, lounge and restaurant that will offer a live magic show,” Reder said.

The venue will host 10 magic shows a week, from Thursday to Tuesday, beginning Dec. 19. The restaurant and lounge will be open seven days a week from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Reder and his partner Tony Clark will produce a live magic show called “Magic Fusion,” with Clark coordinating the acts.

The pair have both produced a number of magic shows at Lake Tahoe’s South Shore over the years, including the award-winning “Illusion Fusion.”

Clark himself was recognized for his skills by twice earning the Magician of the Year award from the International Magicians Society, the world’s largest magic organization.

According to Reder, “Illusion Fusion” ended with the closing of the Horizon Casino Resort in 2014. When it reopened as the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Lake Tahoe at the beginning of 2015, there was no space for the magic show.

“We needed a home for our ‘Fusion’ brand and the site at Heavenly Village was perfect,” Reder said.

The Loft will occupy approximately 5,700 square feet on the third floor above the movie theater in Heavenly Village. The live theater will seat 107 people.

The new venue also includes an Italian dining area and an upscale lounge area and bar, complete with two fireplaces and overstuffed couches.

A host of local talent went into designing and operating The Loft. South Lake Tahoe architect Brian Shinault created the floor plan, while Carol Faccienetti is executing the interior design.

Lisa Devincenzi-Miller, owner of the Italian restaurant Capisce in Round Hill, will act as executive chef.

According to Reder, Gary Casteel of Trans-Sierra Investments, Inc., the company that developed and operates Heavenly Village showed him around the vacant spot.

“It was just perfect for a theater,” Reder said.

Casteel, in a prepared statement, called The Loft a perfect addition to Heavenly Village.

“This is perfect timing for the holidays and winter ski season as South Shore will have its first live theatre right here in the Heavenly Village,” Casteel stated. “In the epicenter of the new South Lake Tahoe downtown district, we offer guests value-added family activities and activities for all ages, only-in-Tahoe shops, including top-rated dining, events and live performances all within walking distance from numerous upscale lodging properties.”

Reder, for his part, said he wanted to create a place that would permanently house a live magic show. PR Entertainment has leased the space for 10 years from Heavenly Village.

“Magic spans age, language barriers, demographics, and everybody enjoys it,” Reder said. “It’s great for date nights, grandparents and for kids.”

The show will rotate its magic acts on a regular basis at Clark’s direction, Reder added.
