The El Dorado County Health Department is hosting two workshops on the dangers, use and recovery of methamphetamine, a powerful, illegal drug made out of household chemicals that is on the rise in areas of the Central Valley and Carson Valley.

The workshops are slated for 6:30 to 8 p.m. – at the Lake Tahoe Community College Theater on Tuesday and in Spanish at the Al Tahoe School Cafeteria on Wednesday. Presenters will speak to topics such as the physical and psychological effects of the drug, tooth loss, brain damage, mental illness and an alarming trend of youth users. Questions are welcome.

The issue will be raised in a Tahoe Daily Tribune article next week.
