California Assemblyman Ted Gaines, in conjunction with the U.S. Forest Service, South Lake Tahoe Fire Department and CALFIRE, will host a town hall meeting today on fire protection and defensible space.

The meeting will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. tonight in the Aspen Room at Lake Tahoe Community College.

Armed robber hits transit office

An employee of Area Transit Management was held up at gunpoint early Monday morning and an undisclosed amount of cash was taken, authorities said.

No one was hurt in the robbery, which happened at the ATM office on Shop Street at around 3:15 a.m., South Lake Tahoe Police Officer David Allen said.

“The employee was quite traumatized,” Allen said. The robbery remains under investigation.
