Nobody told me there would be days like these
What “Month” is it, anyway? What “Day?”
I do know that it is National Angel Food Cake Day.
October is also National Awareness/Recognition Month for all of the following: Down Syndrome, Dyslexia, ADHD, American Archives, Italian History, Domestic Violence, Books, Work and Family, Breast Cancer, Disability Employment, CyberSecurity, Filipino-American History, LGBT History, Bullying Prevention, Polish American Heritage, Spina Bifida, Pregnancy/Infant Loss, Pastors Appreciation, Dwarfism, Audiology and Protect Your Hearing.
Those are some important issues. My hope is that they are not diluted because of the shear number of concerns in our daily lives.
If we are organized enough to research and honor all of the above, we can consider tackling National Awareness or Recognition Days, which include: Fire Pup, Homemade Cookies, Custodial Workers, Name Your Car, Fried Scallops, Poetry, Techies, World Smile,Taco, Golf, Vodka, Do Something Nice, Apple Betty, Mad Hatter, German-American, Noodle, Child Health, Frappe, Fluffernutter, Pierogy, Emergency Nurses, Stop Bullying, Bring Your Teddy Bear to Work/School, American Touch Tag, Leif Erikson, Pro-Life Cupcake, Moldy Cheese, Angel Food Cake, Sausage Pizza, Coming Out, General Pulaski Memorial, Free Thought, Farmers, Gumbo, Costume Swap, Clergy Appreciation, Train Your Brain, Yorkshire Pudding, Chess, Kick Butt, Native-American, Navy Birthday, Columbus, English Language, Dessert, Be Bald and Be Free, I Love Lucy, Cake Decorating, Grouch, Latino AIDS Awareness, Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness, White Cane Safety, Fossil, Hagfish, Support Your Local Chamber of Commerce, Rural Women, Liqueur, Dictionary, Feral Cat, Take Your Parents To Lunch, Get Smart About Credit, Boss, Pro-Life of Silent Solidarity, Department Store, World Food, Edge, Mulligan, Pasta, Mammography, Alternative Fuel, Black Poetry, Get to Know Your Customers, Chocolate Cupcake, Sweetest, Seafood Bisque, Brandied Fruit, Clean Your Virtual Desktop, Pumpkin Cheesecake, Reptile, Nut, Color, Medical Assistants, Boston Cream Pie, Mole, Johnny Carson, iPod, Food, Bologna, Pharmacy Buyer, United Nations, World Development Information, Greasy Food, Make A Difference, Sourest, World Pasta, Chucky The Notorious Killer Doll, International Bandanna, International Artists, Deployed, Mule, Pumpkin, Mincemeat, Mother-in-Law, American Beer, Navy, Chocolates, Cat, Oatmeal, Hermit, Candy Corn, Speak Up For Service, Caramel Apple, Knock-Knock Jokes, Magic, Bread Sticks, Frankenstein and Girl Scout Founder.
I don’t know about you, but for me — it’s Saturday — a day like any other — a day to be good to others, acknowledge their struggles, fight injustices, enjoy life in a childlike manner, learn something new and give when and where you can.
